What's up internet? We're enjoying the summer all over Europe. Here's some nice pics of the Eier mit Speck festival in Viersen (Germany):

And of course, we wouldn't want you to miss out on Darth Vader who showed up at our gig in Castricum last night...

Upcoming shows
This week we'll be in the UK for some nice ones. Tomorrow (Aug 3rd) we're opening up for The Aggrolites at Dingwalls in Camden and on Friday we're playing the always awesome Rebellion Festival in Blackpool

Later this month we'll be at the Azfeszt in Hungary. Here's the promo to prove it:

See you there! Love as always from your friends,
Jaya the Cat

So guess what. After two years of being very awesome (and very hairy) on the bass, Jeroen decided to quit ol' Jaya the Cat. We obviously wish him nothing but the best while he tries his luck down under (cause that's where he's taking off to). We've had some amazing times with him and are forever grateful for the way he was able to deal with this bunch of drunken maniacs that you all know and love. But don't start reaching for the tissues just yet ladies, cause yes, THIS GUY IS BACK:

Steven used to play for Jaya until Jeroen joined in 2008 and was kind enough to fill in while we look for a permanent solution. And not a minute too soon, cause we're headed down to Austria and Slovenia this weekend for some shows that we're really looking forward to. And the fun doesn't stop there, cause to make sure Steven doesn't steal everyone's shine right away, we're bringing THIS ASSHOLE along:

Now don't get too exited, Jody Ray over here is not a permanent addition to the band. He's just along for the ride. And what a ride it will be.

Yo. We've been kicking it around Holland and Germany this past month and as always everyone's been great. Too bad we couldn't do a full set at the Ruhrpott Rodeo festival, but there's a good chance we'll be back there next year which is something we'd be very happy about cause that place rocks as you can see in this here video:

What else? Oh yeah, while we're posting YouTube stuff, be sure to check out the high quality registration of our show in Sofia in April. This is us with a little help from our buddy Yanko:

And fuck it, here's another one:

New tour dates up
And finally, be sure to check our tour section for the new dates. We're confirmed for two shows on the Dutch Waddeneilanden in June and in August we'll be back in the UK for some killer shows like the always awesome Rebellion Festival in Blackpool.

Hey kids, first off our massive apologies for keeping you in the dark about what we've been up to over the last six months. As announced last November, we have been in the studio quite a bit. Things are shaping up nicely and we're all very excited about how everything sounds so far. We hope to release some new material this year, but we haven't been able to set a date yet. We are trying out the new material during our live shows though, so if you're getting anxious for new Jaya jams, come check us out across Europe this summer.

In between recording sessions we obviously haven't forgotten to party our balls off, which we'll continue to do as long as we still have the strength left in us to stumble up to the bar. Speaking of which, we'd like to give a big shout out to all our buddies old and new in Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, Macedonia, Greece, Bulgaria and Romania! You guys treated us so well over the last month, we felt like we were on holiday the entire time. (The fact that that part of the world has the hottest girls ever walking around helps a lot too.) Fucking awesome. We'd once again would like to make our sincere apologies to everybody who showed up for our Belgrade show. We had to cancel that one due to massive issues at the Bosnian/Croatian border, which resulted in a 6 hour delay. We hope to make it up to you guys sooner than later.

Until then, stay groovy and see you somewhere down the crazy river!

Studio
So we've been slowing down on our constant touring to start recording our next album! First session went great, all the basic tracks for nine new jaya songs are layed down and as soon as that's finished we'll be back in the studio for more awesomeness!

Austria
This weekend we are heading out for a small tour through Austria. 3 shows are lined up including one of our favorite clubs, the Chelsea, in Vienna. Check www.jayathecat.com/tour.html for details, and hope to see you all out at one of the gigs!

Germany
We're heading back to the land of beer and bratwurst! Unfortunately, we've had to cancel Osnabruck because of situations outside our control. We hope you guys will show up with all your friends in Hamburg, Koln and Lindau and party it up. it's gonna be a great couple of weekends!

Holland
We are wrapping the final shows supporting our last album ' More Late Night Transmissions with...' starting with the Netherlands. We have 9 shows lined-up including the Melkweg in our hometown Amsterdam. So for all our dutch friends, this will be the last chance to see us live this year in Holland, come on down and party with us.

End of September and the beginning of October we'll be playing some shows in Germany including Koln and Hamburg. And in November we'll be do a short tour in Austria including Vienna before we head back to the studio to finish up our next album!

So come on out and dance, baby!

So it's August already and we've had a busy summer playing festivals all over Europe. Cheers to everyone we've seen so far in Germany, France, Holland, Luxembourg, Czech and Croatia, from what we remember it's been a wicked time! Coming up is the Punk rock extravaganza Rebellion festival in Blackpool. Looks to be a great time, with alot of classic as well as new school bands on the lineup. We're playing Sunday the 9th at 14.25 sharp, so if you're gonna be there get up early and drink your hangover away with Jaya The Cat! If you're in the UK but can't make it we are also playing the Underworld in London and an all day punk/ska/reggae festival in Gravesend.

We'll also be back in Germany as well as Hungary on August 21 for the Azfest festival, sharing the stage with bands like Skindred, The Toasters and Anti-Flag. It's suppose to be the laid back version of the Sziget festival so we think it will be a blast! Check out our website for more details (Tour). For the rest of the month we'll be having a little band vacation to regroup and get our heads together for the fall!

September
In September we're starting with a bunch of Dutch club dates (including our yearly night of hometown debauchery at the Melkweg in Amsterdam) before heading into the studio to start working on our new record! So have a great summer, come see us play and check out our web sites in September for more news.

France Tour, Germany and Luxembourg dates
Starting tomorrow we are going for a nice trip to the land of wine and good life called La France. Most shows are in the south and one show in Spain (beach place of Barcalona). So feel free to join us at one of our shows. Later this month we are back in Germany (festivals!) for 4 shows and one in Luxembourg so here is santé to that! More details for our shows (links, map etc) can be found on the tour section.

After a month of working on new songs and hanging in Amsterdam it's time to hit the van again and do some serious touring...

UK Tour
We're starting on our second UK tour! Most of the dates are supported by The Skints. We'll also be playing at the O2 Academy, Sheffield with Streetlight Manifesto. Make sure you get your tickets in advance! Go to the Tour section for more info about tickets, locations, etc...

France Tour
In May we'll be touring in France. Most shows are in the southern part so if you feel like to making a little trip to the south of France come on out and drink some wine and plat petanque with jaya the cat!

US release
'More Late Night Transmissions with...' is out on I Scream Records in the US. Here are some nice reviews of the album:

www.guestlistmagazine.net/reviewsj
"With the watered down so called punk rock scene these days, when a band like Jaya The Cat comes along it seems almost a no brainer that rejoicing is clearly in order. The band originally hails from Boston and it clearly shows throughout this album. The Boston styled street punk that you have come to love from bands like The Street Dogs, Lost City Angels etc… rings out as you listen to tracks like "Mistake," "The Carnival," and more. You will quickly be pumping your fist in the air as the vocals pull you into the songs, and the simple guitar riffs drive right through the verses and into the soon to be anthem choruses for the new generation. However, this isn't just a street punk band and that is exactly what helps to separate Jaya The Cat from the rest of the pack. Tossing you into the album is a 1:44 second instrumental, reggae dub, "Hold My beer and Watch This." The reggae/ska blend that everyone fell in love with in the mid-90's is very present throughout this album as well. Tracks like "Good Morning," "Thank You Reggae," and "Government Center," all spew the up-tempo reggae goodness that you want to hear from a band fusing together influences of ska, reggae, and punk the way these guys do. Round all of this out with the bonus track, their version of the popular Jimmy Cliff tune "The Harder They Come" and you have just stumbled upon a great band and an equally as great album."

www.the-peak.ca/article/1769
"Mix together Dicky Barret-inspired vocals (of the Mighty Mighty Bosstones) with a smooth dub backdrop, then throw in a hybrid of ska, reggae, and rock, and you end up with Jaya the Cat’s latest and most impressive effort. The title, More Late Night Transmissions With . . . , perfectly fits the album’s generally easy-going atmosphere. It wouldn’t be hard to imagine relaxing to songs like “Blur,” “Hello Hangover,” or “Closing Time” while watching a summer sunset. Undoubtedly, the band feels most at home during these slow, instant summertime classics. A few speedy punk-influenced tracks, like “Nightbus” and “Government Centre,” pop up occasionally, but fortunately these more generic-sounding songs are few and far between. As for lyrical content, most of the tracks do little to ward off stereotypes about the band’s hometown, Amsterdam. With the exception of a few politically minded tracks, the majority either centre around or at least reference some form of nightlife. Bars, booze, and pot use dominate the album. The band loosely organizes the tracks to reflect a day in the life of a chronic partier, chronologically exploring the consequences of such reckless behaviour. At the very least, the idea provides an entertaining perspective. Since anything associated with skacore more or less ‘died’ after the ‘90s, More Late Night Transmissions With . . . is a much-needed remedy that fills the void. Cole Faulkner"

www.babbleandbeat.com/music-reviews/jaya-the-cat.html
"The opening track, 'Hold My Beer and Watch This', is a funky jam-out and almost instantly confirmed I was going to seriously love Jaya The Cat. Next comes 'Blur'. Let me tell you, this track is fucking ace. Seriously. This one's catchy as all get-out.
'Good Morning', aka track 3, is a really solid track. 'Thank You Reggae' and 'Hello Hangover' follow and can be added right below 'Blur' to the highlights list. 'Mistake', 'Night Bus' and 'Carnival' are high energy rock-outs. 'Voice of the Poor' is pure rap/hard rock/punk/reggae bliss with lyrical depth. It's a brilliant addition to the album. 'Closing Time' shows even more versatility with this dance-influenced and somewhat seductive track. A bonus track, 'The Harder They Come', is included and proves to be a pretty decent cover. Bottom line is all 14 tracks are really good at minimum, most are great, and a few are outstanding. There isn't one single song on the 'More Late Night Transmissions With...' release that doesn't deserve to be. I love the vocals, the personality that comes through in the music, the beats, the soul and passion, the variety of genres they work with, the energy,... Please take a few moments to check their music out.
